Better math for
brighter thinkers.

Our editorial
approach.

Useful ideas, clearly explained

I publish practical introductions to math materials and original activities. Suggestions are starting points to adapt to the learner. They are not promises of a particular learning outcome.

Factual claims link to their sources. Diagrams explain mathematical relationships; photographs and illustrations may show an example arrangement rather than an exact model.

Physical buying options

The US Amazon links point to products whose identity and fit have been checked. I do not claim to have tested every product. Prices, stock, materials, and bundle contents can change; check the retailer's current listing before deciding. Generic material illustrations are labeled and do not depict the exact listed product.

Links currently contain no affiliate tags. I receive no affiliate commission from these links. If that changes, compensated links will be identified near the recommendation.

Digital options

Digital and physical tools are discussed in terms of what a learner can do with them. App notes suggest a question or comparison to try, and point out differences when the on-screen model does not match the physical material. For my connection to the Manipulatives app, see About this site.

Phone previews show actual screens captured from the native app. A named related tool or library preview is not a claim that it matches the physical material exactly. Check the current App Store listing for released features, pricing, and device requirements.

Choose materials for the task

Start with materials you already have, or borrow a set before buying one. Add a tool when it makes a particular action or comparison possible. A screen, a drawing, and a physical set each offer different ways to work with the same idea.

Care and supervision

Choose materials suited to the learner and follow the product's age and use guidance. The illustrations are conceptual; check the actual set's piece sizes and contents.

Dates and corrections

Review dates identify when guide content was checked. Publication and update dates describe actual editorial changes. Corrections change the relevant guide and its update date when the change is substantive.
